Ever My Merlin
By Priya Ardis
My Merlin Trilogy #3
He was the right one, the fated one, but was he, right for her? The end of the world. The day of reckoning. The final battle. In the last chapter of the My Merlin Series, it is a time of great strife for Arriane (aka Ryan) and Merlin (aka Matt) as they struggle to stem the flood of destruction unleashed upon the world. Their only hope rests in the one object that can restore their greatest ally: the Healing Cup. With every scrap of life hanging in the balance, Ryan must convince both friends and enemies that the key to survival rests in the plans of a sword-toting girl of only eighteen. She must reconcile a fifteen-hundred-year rivalry between two brothers, and be ruthless enough to break a heart—and a life—in the process. And at some point, she really needs to get herself to Prom.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! ABORT IF YOU HAVENT READ IT YET!
Okay. So. I already wrote the whole review and it was deleted so yes, I do want to curl up in a ball and cry myself to sleep but I’ve determined I'm too young to die as cause of dehydration and stupidity without at least being a millionaire. Everything is pissing me off so please, bear with me. The reason I gave this book a lower rating than the others from this series is that I felt that the characters hadn't grown. Or at least progressed in their relationship with one another but that didn't happen. Bummer, they could've been one of the best butt-kicking epic squad ever. Okay, let's start where we left off previously. The world is in chaos, that's evident. Vane has a memory which transmits itself to Ryan via amulet of his past and of The Lady ( you cannot fathom the hatred I have for her) Vane distancing himself from Merlin so he's safe was the most heartbreaking thing ever. *Back to the present* Vane and his powers are clearly the ones responsible for this mess but well get into that later. Ryan, Merlin, and a group of other wizards are in India trying to stop the tsunamis. After the first wave Merlin is losing energy quickly (remember how the mermaids tortured him. Yeah I hate them too.) And he lets go, he literally retreats unto himself to escape the pain and once again Ryan has to rescue him. Enter Vane. He being the altruistic person he is, offers to save the world in exchange for Merlin's power. Yes, you heard right. Such an amazing being that guy. Vane and Ryan have a steamy argument in which you could literally see the sweat dripping from my forehead. Jealousy and Vane have an agreement I tell you. Ryan thinks it through all those 2 seconds and agrees (because obviously, she's smart *eye roll please*Don't confuse my attitude with how I think about her. The girl could join my squad anytime). The world is once again saved by Vane and Merlin wakes up all pissed off and ish. Ryan gets reproached once again. Afterwards, Vane appears out of nowhere with his whole contingent of bloodthirsty mermaids and Oliver. Yes. Oliver. The boy has a death wish. Wizards fight. Some bleed, some die. Blake hits the road to the light. Quite literally. He got decapitated. I wasn't even sad about it. And that's sad in and of itself. Ugh. Merlin being the kind soul he is, impaled Vane with Excalibur throwing him to the mist and that's where the true dramatastic adventure starts. They return to the house they were staying in. Ryan distances herself from others to speak with Vane. Merlin catches her. He is angry she's just, meh. He orders her to sleep, she complies...or so he thinks. Later at night, she sneaks out but wait... are those voices she hears? and wait...is that Merlin's voice?. Yes, yes it is. Merlin The Guy Whose Secrets Destroy Everything. That's his real name and nobody can tell me the contrary. She hears them planning to sneak Merlin off so she does what any smart human would do in that situation. She climbs into the escape car unnoticed and prepares herself for another epicly dangerous adventure. Long story short, she gets herself in trouble (after Merlin sees her)
once again when they' in the temple after having climbed and traveled and sweated profusely searching for something they shouldn't be searching for. And lo and behold, taking something they're not supposed to take. Cue Vane to the rescue again. The temple is self-destructing, people are screaming and Ryan being the awesome mastermind she decides to drink medusas blood which does absolutely nothing and finally decides to call Vane. Vane rescues everyone.Once more. My baby is so underappreciated. Blablabla...interlude...Okay here we go...*massive inhale* Ryan and Merlin find the Healing lake and search for the healing cup or the Holy Grail whatever you want to call it, they don't find the healing cup but what they DO find is The Kronos Eye which supposedly allows you to see the end of the world. So what does Ryan do? Ma girl here swallows the Eye. Cue extreme pain, end of the world vision. Vane turns into the minotaur, rips Ryan's stomach to shreds to get the jewel out and she is saved.*massive exhale* The end of the world is no longer a possibility because the awesome trio prevented it. So, yeah. I'm fine. And Ryan ended up with Vane. I KNOWWWWWW!!!! In the end, I actually came to actually like Merlin. The epilogue allowed us to take a peek into his feelings and see what he saw and goshdarnit if that didn't bring me to tears.
Ryan and Merlin fighting for the bed in the hotel in the mountains.
Vane kissing Leonidas' girlfriend to make Ryan jealous. Darn if that boy doesn't have a contract with jealousy.
The little princess telling Vane that she was going to marry him when she grew up. AND HE BLUSHED. AWWWWW.
And lastly, the little speech Vane gave to Ryan at the end. He even said that in the future he would like to marry her. And he was going to be HER PROFESSOR IN COLLEGE! Some people are lucky I tell you.
Overall I was pretty sad that this series wasn't continuing. I actually felt that the ending was a bit forced but that was probably my pettiness shining out. And I would also like to mention that my opinions don't have to influence your own, people have their own brains for a reason my loves. Priya Ardis, please continue this series, this booknerd needs more of Vane in her life. He is too perfect to be remembered only in 3 books. It's unfair.
Ps. I'm still super pissed that the previous review was deleted but be that a lesson for y'all. DO NOT CLOSE A DOCUMENT WITHOUT HITTING SAVE FIRST.
